Alterna 2025 Grants: Funding Up to $1,000 for Community Projects

The Alterna Community Granting Programs 2025 are now accepting applications from registered charities, incorporated nonprofits, co-operatives without share capital, and unincorporated associations (with sponsorship). The program offers grants of up to $1,000 to support community initiatives aligned with specific causes: Affordable and Co-operative Housing, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (focusing on women’s empowerment, youth, and 2SLGBTQ+ communities), Environmental Sustainability, and Food Insecurity. Eligible applicants must submit a completed application form, proof of charitable status, Articles of Incorporation or Letters Patent, and, for unincorporated groups, a sponsorship letter from an eligible incorporated organization. Preference is given to Alterna members, but membership is not required. The application can be sent via email, and grants are issued to the sponsoring organization.
Applications Are Now Open for the 2025 Alterna Community Granting Programs
Alterna is pleased to offer its annual granting program, providing funding opportunities for registered charities, incorporated nonprofits, co-operatives without share capital, and unincorporated associations that make a positive impact in communities.
Please ensure that all Community Granting Program applications align with the following focus areas for 2025:
– Affordable and Co-operative Housing
– Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), with emphasis on women’s empowerment, youth empowerment, and 2SLGBTQ+ communities
– Environmental Sustainability
– Food Insecurity
The program offers grants of up to $1,000 for initiatives where a small amount of funding can create a meaningful difference within communities.
Eligibility Criteria:
– Open to registered charities
– Incorporated nonprofit organizations
– Co-operatives without share capital
– Unincorporated associations are eligible when sponsored by an eligible incorporated organization, accompanied by a letter of support. The grant cheque will be issued to the sponsoring organization.
Required Documentation:
– Completed application form
– Proof of charitable status (if applicable)
– Articles of Incorporation or Letters Patent
– For unincorporated groups, a support letter from an eligible incorporated organization
– Letters of recommendation (optional)
Important Notes:
– Cheques will only be issued to incorporated organizations.
– The sponsoring organization must submit Articles of Incorporation, Letters Patent, or proof of charitable status.
– While membership in Alterna is not mandatory, member organizations will be given preference.
